Landmark needs  preserving

I am writing this letter on behalf of history, referencing the caretaker’s cottage located out by the Eastern New Mexico University football stadium.

Lots of folks remember it was built in the 1930s by the Works Progress Administration.

It is part of Roosevelt County’s history and a real treasure.

It is also in a bad state of deterioration. I have tried for several years to get something done about it. I have talked to the president of ENMU, I have talked to a member of the university’s board of regents, I have talked to state Sen. Stuart Ingle — but it’s the same old story: no money.

However, if other projects crop up on campus, it seems the money can always be found to do them.

If I were a member of the powers that be at Eastern, I would hang my head in shame, knowing it has deteriorated to its present condition.

If we lose the little cottage we have lost another Roosevelt County landmark. That would be a tragedy. It needs to be preserved so that it can be viewed with pride.

Al Gore behind high gas prices

Here you have it, the real reason behind high oil prices:

Al Gore has called for this nation to be “carbon free” in 10 years. ... No matter what it costs. ... No matter what the effects will be on the people. 

He’s the real head of the movement to crush our lifestyle to make it what he thinks is appropriate.

Al has decided he knows what is best for us, and has enlisted a sympathetic army to manipulate us into compliance. 

If $4 gas doesn’t stop people from driving a truck,  maybe $10 gas will, or maybe even $20.  

He’s on a roll, and now he’s going after the nation’s electric production, the source of our home heating and lighting. 

Well, I have news for Al. Not everyone thinks he is a smart scientist. 

Plants need carbon dioxide. They eliminate it. Maybe Al could focus on greening up America to take advantage of the extra production that our population requires. 

Or, maybe he would like to eliminate some people too. People produce CO2 when they breathe.  

Of course, Al can afford what it’s about to cost to meet his agenda.

For the rest of us, it’s OK to just say no before we are Gore’d even more.

And I hope some other Americans stand up and start doing just that ... and soon.
