I recently read where PETA — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — has asked Ben and Jerry’s ice cream company to stop using cows milk, and instead use breast milk. How ridiculous can this organization get?
But what is really disheartening is the success of PETA.
They have ruined the horse market. If you own an old horse, or have a
horse come up lame, you’re stuck. The price of feed is so expensive you
can’t even give an older horse away.
When it comes to the treatment of animals, in a lot of cases PETA has
lost all common sense. PETA needs to provide a market for horse owners
all over the United States. I would like to take a semi-trailer load of
horses to Pamela Anderson and drop them off in her front yard, and say
“Here ya go Pam, you take care of them.”
People may start dumping horses off in the country the same way they do dogs.
There are some good organizations out there like The Humane Society or
the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals that
people can support.
If PETA stood for People Eating Tasty Animals I might support them, but right now I would not give them one penny.
