Portales brothers will be competing in the PGA Sun Country Junior Tour Championship at Albuquerque.

Rick Bergman, 17, and Ty Bergman, 11, will compete on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Desert Green Golf Course at Albuquerque.

Ty qualified at the Spring Rivers Golf Tournament on July 15  at Roswell,  with a score of 53, according to results posted on the PGA Sun County Web Site.

Rick did not qualify but was selected as first alternate in the tournament with a score of 81.

Rick has competed in the championship event in the past but this will be Ty’s first time in the championship, according to Rick’s mother Sandy Bergman.

“I am really excited to compete in the championship,” Ty Bergman said. “It took a lot of hard work against some tough competition to get here, but it was fun.”

The two-day tournament will begin on Tuesday with tee time at 7:30 p.m.
