Rams notch second win in Oklahoma
Comments 0 | Recommend 0DEPEW, Okla. — The Portales baseball team’s tour of the Sooner State has produced the squad’s first two wins of the season, as the Rams defeated Kiefer, Okla. Friday afternoon 13-8.
Down 1-0 after an inning, the Rams (2-5) opened a 6-2 lead in the third and went on to a five-inning victory over the Trojans.
Junior Brandon Adkins got the win for the Rams, allowing six runs in five innings before Austin McMullen came on in relief. Senior first baseman Tom Sullivan paced the Rams from the plate, going 2-for-5 and batting in three runs.
“We’re starting to eliminate those mental mistakes and base running errors,” Rams coach Art Ontiveros said. “Our pitchers are throwing pretty well for us.”
Portales got its first win of the season on Thursday, beating Mounds 14-2.
The Rams conclude their visit in Oklahoma this morning against host Depew. They begin a 10-game homestand on Tuesday against Robertson.
