Dec. 1, 1942: The Portales Daily News: C.F. Tivis, who left for the Army only two months ago, was learning to save money. This week he sent home $75 worth of bonds and $5 for a Christmas present for his mother. He had learned to barber on the side and was earning a little money.
April 22, 1960: After 14 years as a Portales barber, James “Babe” Morgan was headed to Roswell to work. He sold his interest in the Morgan and Morgan Barber Shop and the Portales News-Tribune reported Herb Hartsill would take Babe Morgan’s chair.
