Shafer Douglas Shafer of Portales will celebrate his 80th birthday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Portales Memorial Building. The celebration will be hosted by his family. Shafer was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Dora. He has three children. The celebration is open to friends and relatives.
