According to the Portales News-Tribune, the Portales High School band was judged first in the A division during the Eastern New Mexico Homecoming parade. First in the Class AA group was the Clovis band. Farwell, Texas, won the Class B division, and Marshall Junior High Band from Clovis won its group.
