There would be no more parking on the Roosevelt County Courthouse lawn, according to a decision by the new county commissioners in their first meeting of the year. The commissioners said they noticed bare ground around the courthouse, and declared that no more public meetings could be held on the lawn.
Republican candidate for State Land Commissioner H. L. Kent was to speak at the Roosevelt County Courthouse, discussing problems “concerning the farmer, the stockman, the schools and our natural resources,” according to an ad for the event in the Portales Daily News.
PNT staff Roosevelt County Clerk Janet Collins will be test voting the early vote, absentee vote and in-person voting machines at 9 a.m. Friday in the courthouse basement. Any interested person may observe.
