Dec. 12, 1941: The Portales Daily News: Bulletin: A cablegram carried this morning from Manila said all of the Portales and Clovis boys serving in the Philippines were alright. It was the first word received since the outbreak of hostilities.
Nov. 26, 1961: Portales News-Tribune: Friends here received word that Bob Doyle’s float won first prize in the Albuquerque Christmas Parade Friday. Doyle, a former Portales resident and son of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Doyle, is a graduate of ENMU. He taught art at Washington Junior High School in the Duke City.
